Custom Wiring Diagrams
Stellartone is now in the process of updating and replacing our original black & white wiring diagram library with new and improved color PDFs.
The black & white diagrams will be archived, and will remain available for download in two complete PDF booklets, linked at the bottom of this page.
Please note that the original diagrams were drawn specifically for the model 362, 363 and 407 ToneStylers & Bari-ToneStylers, which have a GREEN ground wire. The model 463 and 500 series ToneStylers have a shielded cable with a CLEAR ground wire.
No matter what color the wire may be, your ToneStyler's ground should be connected as shown in all diagrams. So, if using a 300 series black & white diagram when installing a 500 series ToneStyler, just connect your CLEAR ToneStyler ground wire where the GREEN ground wire is indicated.
Please click here for detailed information on wire color-coding and the proper grounding of your guitar. This information is not included on the wiring diagrams.
Click the individual descriptions below to download each printer-friendly Adobe PDF wiring diagram; these one-page diagrams are compatible with both the 300 series and the 400/500 series ToneStylers.
You may also scroll to the bottom of this page to download the 300 series wiring booklet, or the 400/500 series wiring booklet.

Two pickup bass guitars with three knobs (Fender J-Bass® / Fender PJ-Bass® styles):
Dual pickup volumes, one master ToneStyler BASS (J-Bass style) - 864KB This is the simplest plan, which retains the original "dual volume knobs" and replaces only the master tone pot. Optimum tonal performance requires that one of the dual volumes is set on maximum; reduced ToneStyler effectiveness will result if both pickups are set to reduced volumes. Plan 2.2 (below) is a much better choice.
2.2 / 2.3 Master volume, blend, master ToneStyler BASS (J-Bass style) - 279KB NEW These two custom plans provide superior tonal performance and flexibility at all volumes, and improved ease of use when compared to the original "dual volume knob" Fender J-Bass control plan.
Page 1 shows the 2.2 wiring when using a Bourns or CGE blend pot; Page 2 shows the 2.3 wiring when using an Aguilar or Noble blend pot. Both diagrams solo the neck pickup on full clockwise rotation, and both solo the bridge pickup on full counter-clockwise rotation of the blend pot. To reverse, just swap the neck & bridge pickup's signal wires on your blend pot's center input terminals.
